Principal Product Designer

Radiology PartnersRemote - CA, CA
$270,000 - $275,000

About The Position

Cognita, the AI business unit of Mosaic Clinical Technologies™ (a subsidiary of Radiology Partners), is seeking a Principal Product Designer to own the radiologist experience for Mosaic Reporting, an AI-native, real-time radiology reporting product. This product represents a new approach to radiology reporting, where statements are extracted from natural speech and placed into the report in real time, driven by dictation rather than templated clicking. The role involves defining the product's look, feel, and behavior, balancing innovation with familiarity for radiologists. You will collaborate with the product lead to shape product strategy and direction, using your understanding of radiologists to inform development priorities. This is an opportunity to shape the future of medical imaging.

Requirements

  • Mastery of Figma and modern prototyping tools.
  • Portfolio demonstrating both craft and systems thinking.
  • Fluency in interaction and visual design, information architecture, and design systems.
  • Judgment to balance ambitious, novel interactions against familiarity and reliability for expert users.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and owning product design end-to-end.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale.
  • Strong ownership mindset and good product judgment.
  • Up to 20% travel or more as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience leading product design for complex, production software, from research through shipped product.
  • A track record of running user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) and turning it into concrete design decisions.
  • Experience designing for clinical, medical, or other expert and high-stakes professional users.
  • Experience designing real-time, low-latency, or voice- and dictation-driven interfaces.
  • Familiarity with LLM- or AI-powered products and designing for probabilistic, model-driven outputs.
  • Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments, and handling PHI / building to HIPAA requirements.
  • Radiology or medical imaging domain knowledge (modalities, reporting workflows, structured reporting).
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and product documentation at scale across global customers.
  • Familiarity with React / Next.js and close, hands-on collaboration with frontend engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end radiologist experience of Mosaic Reporting, developing a deep understanding of user experience and radiologist satisfaction.
  • Design a system that adapts to different radiologist interaction styles, balancing innovation with familiarity.
  • Define prioritization for improving radiologist satisfaction by analyzing user feedback.
  • Contribute to product strategy and roadmap, using insights into radiologist needs.
  • Plan and conduct user research (surveys, interviews, usability studies) with practicing radiologists and synthesize findings into design direction.
  • Produce mockups, prototypes, and interaction flows in Figma, and partner with engineering to bring them to production.
  • Collaborate closely with radiologists and clinicians to design Mosaic Reporting as a scalable product.
  • Create standardized product manuals, documentation, and design language.
  • Establish and own the design system and interaction patterns for product consistency across surfaces, teams, and customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
