Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience designing for mobile-first, consumer-facing products — ideally spanning hardware companion apps, IoT, or connected device ecosystems.
  • Experience designing across physical and digital touchpoints, with a strong grasp of how hardware constraints shape software UX decisions.
  • Familiarity with device lifecycle moments — unboxing, onboarding, setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing engagement, and how to design for each with clarity and delight.
  • Strong UI/UX craft with a portfolio demonstrating elegant, data-informed solutions to complex cross-platform or hardware-software problems.
  • Experience designing with and for AI-enhanced experiences, particularly in the context of ambient, location-aware, or sensor-driven products.
  • Skilled in rapid prototyping, with a bias toward exploration and iteration and a proven ability to close the gap between concept and scalable, shippable product
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities. Able to translate technical hardware realities into compelling user-centered narratives and influence across functions and levels.
  • Systems thinker with a track record of creating scalable frameworks that work across form factors, platforms, and product lines.
  • Positive, collaborative mindset — brings energy, curiosity, and humility to every challenge, including the messy, cross-functional nature of hardware-software product development.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design partner programs or systems of continuous feedback with early access customers, hardware betas or device pilot programs a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead Product Design for Connected Devices
  • Drive end-to-end design across Life360's devices portfolio, including Tile, Pet GPS, and other hardware products. This role translates insights and strategy into elegant, scalable experiences that span physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Deeply understand the devices ecosystem, hardware constraints, companion app interactions, and user mental models, and design experiences that feel seamless whether a member is on the Life360 app, the web, or interacting with a physical device.
  • Own the in-app experience for how users set up, manage, and get value from their devices within Life360.
  • Lead early-stage design by rapidly prototyping hardware-software interaction concepts using AI-native and standard design tooling to test novel experiences at speed.
  • Map and storyboard end-to-end user journeys across physical and digital moments — from unboxing to daily use — and turn them into visual artifacts stakeholders can quickly react to.
  • Design frameworks and interaction models that reduce friction across device setup, management, and troubleshooting flows.
  • Develop scalable patterns that unify the devices experience across form factors and surface areas.
  • Partner across Product, Engineering, Brand, Research, Hardware, and Industrial Design to deliver high-quality outcomes and influence strategy with a strong design point of view.
  • Present insights and solutions at both the IC and C level that shape the devices roadmap and business strategy.
  • Guide and mentor fellow designers, modeling exceptional craft, curiosity, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Champion design culture and innovation by bringing in inspiration from consumer hardware, IoT, and connected product spaces.
