About The Position

Waters Corporation is seeking a Principal Pricing Data Engineer to help advance its enterprise transformation and build the data foundation for advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and Agentic AI. The role is a senior technical contributor and pricing-domain expert who partners with the Pricing Excellence team and colleagues across divisions. It owns technical solutions for the pricing domain and operates with a high degree of independence. The position is hands-on, with elevated responsibility for data architecture, pricing data models, and cross-functional alignment. The engineer designs, builds, and enhances data pipelines, platforms, and automation that support pricing strategy, analytics, and execution, including price waterfall analysis, discount optimization, segmentation, and margin expansion. The role also addresses complex pricing data challenges and ensures data is accurate, accessible, traceable, and actionable across the enterprise. This is a hybrid role based in Milford, Massachusetts, and is not remote.

  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with a focus on data engineering.
  • Proven experience building and operating end-to-end ETL/ELT data pipelines in modern data environments.
  • Solid understanding of source control, collaborative development workflows, and production support.
  • Strong experience working with commercial and pricing-related data, such as sales transactions, pricing, margins, and rebates.
  • Experience mentoring peers and contributing to technical best practices within a team.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Demonstrated drive, curiosity, humility, and ability to learn.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable, reliable pipelines to ingest, validate, transform, and persist transactional sales, pricing, cost, margin, and profitability data.
  • Develop and maintain pricing data models for price waterfalls, customer and product segmentation hierarchies, and realized price and margin analytics.
  • Define and implement end-to-end pricing data architecture and integrate systems such as ERP, CRM, and CPQ.
  • Establish scalable frameworks for global pricing governance and standardization across divisions and regions.
  • Contribute to data platform design for analytics, machine learning, and Agentic AI workloads, particularly pricing use cases.
  • Build high-performance pipelines for large transactional datasets and near-real-time pricing insights and monitoring.
  • Implement and maintain data quality checks, validation logic, and monitoring dashboards to support data integrity and auditability.
  • Optimize cloud data pipelines for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Partner with Global Pricing and Commercial teams to translate business problems into scalable data solutions.
  • Enable price realization and leakage analysis, discount and rebate effectiveness analysis, and customer and product elasticity modeling in collaboration with data science.
  • Ensure pricing data is model-ready, traceable, and reproducible for analytics and machine learning.
  • Support development of pricing dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks used by senior leadership.
  • Develop production-grade Python code using sound object-oriented and functional programming practices.
  • Promote modular, tested, readable, and maintainable engineering practices; participate in code reviews, automated testing, and source control workflows.
