About The Position

At Raytheon Technologies (RTX), you will play a pivotal role as a Principal Platform Engineer, contributing to the design, deployment, and modernization of cutting-edge systems. Your expertise in Linux server administration, Kubernetes development, and DevSecOps practices will drive impactful solutions for critical defense and aerospace projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, leveraging industry’s best practices to optimize performance, scalability, and security across on-premises and cloud-based environments. Note This role is based on site in Richardson, TX.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with integration, cloud technologies, containerization, and Infrastructure/Platform as a Service
  • Proficiency in Linux development and microservices architecture
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible, Chef, or similar tools
  • Active and Current TS/SCI security clearance is required Day 1. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum or SAFe
  • Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes and configuring container orchestration platforms
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, or Go
  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite, including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jenkins
  • Background in deploying and supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps tools
  • General working knowledge of networks, storage, and virtualization technologies
  • Experience with COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration.
  • Security Plus certification

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement system updates and upgrades with a focus on Linux server administration and Kubernetes development
  • Deploy, integrate, and support containerized platforms using modern orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Architect, develop, and support build/test pipelines optimized for performance across virtualized and cloud environments
  • Provision platform, storage, and networking resources for on-premises COTS infrastructure using modernized technologies
  • Collaborate in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and provide project status updates as required
  • Mentor and assist engineers with tool usage, issue resolution, and adherence to best practices
