About The Position

Join Micron’s SSD Controller Engineering team, where we develop advanced memory and storage technologies that power cloud, AI, and enterprise computing. As a Principal PCIe ASIC Application Engineer, you will lead validation efforts for next-generation SSD controller ASICs from development through production. This is a highly visible technical leadership role where you will drive validation strategy, solve complex system challenges, and collaborate with architecture, firmware, design verification, and product engineering teams to ensure successful product delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in ASIC/SoC validation, SSD controller development, storage systems, firmware development, or related technologies
  • Strong knowledge of SSD controller architecture, system-level validation, and high-speed interfaces including PCIe, NVMe, DDR, and NAND/ONFI
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA validation, post-silicon bring-up, silicon debug, ASIC verification, or validation
  • Proficiency in Python, Perl, Shell, or similar scripting languages with strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience with SSD controller firmware architecture, NAND flash technologies, enterprise SSDs, and storage system optimization
  • Experience with ARC-based SoC firmware development
  • Experience with protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, FPGA prototyping, and post-silicon debug tools
  • Shown success leading validation programs for complex ASIC or storage controller products through production and customer support phases
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code to develop or verify code and improve validation efficiency through intelligent automation workflows

Responsibilities

  • Lead ASIC validation activities from pre-silicon FPGA development through product qualification and production release
  • Develop and implement validation plans covering functional, performance, power, reliability, and system-level testing
  • Perform post-silicon bring-up, debug, and root-cause analysis across PCIe, NVMe, DDR, NAND/ONFI, and firmware subsystems
  • Build automation frameworks, validation tools, and test infrastructure to improve efficiency and coverage
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive teamwork across global multi-functional teams
