About The Position

MiniMed is seeking an experienced Principal Packaging Engineer to manage medical device packaging in new product introduction and sustaining programs. The role includes determining packaging specifications based on product characteristics, cost limitations, legal requirements, and protection needs; designing, developing, and testing containers from sterile barrier and primary packaging systems through pallet loads; and designing package exteriors with consideration for product identification, customer appeal, aesthetics, printing, and production techniques. The position may also involve documentation management, coordination of good manufacturing practices, prototype line development at manufacturing facilities, and integration of packaging designs into semi-automated and fully automated manufacturing lines. The engineer creates design verification and validation plans and protocols to produce and test packaging systems for integrity, strength, aseptic presentation, and related characteristics. The role also performs root-cause analysis of test failures, develops technical rationales based on engineering principles, iterates and improves designs, mentors less experienced professionals, and stays current with industry trends and best practices.
