About The Position

The Principal Operations Quality Engineer will improve manufacturing quality and prevent defects by using factory performance data, supporting shop-floor teams, and leading corrective-action and process-improvement activities. The role includes baselining factory metrics such as scrap, rework, and first-pass yield; identifying key drivers and opportunities in light of future demand; and aligning manufacturing teams on improvement priorities. The engineer will lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and integrate product and process verifications across value-stream processes. This is an onsite position in Andover, Massachusetts, and does not provide relocation assistance. An active and transferable U.S. government security clearance is required before starting; the candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain an interim clearance.

  • Experience developing and using quality metrics to identify root causes and drive long-term corrective action, and identifying and instituting verifications.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, quality systems, and industry technical standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and/or AS9102.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

  • Experience with SAP/PRISM or another ERP tool.
  • Previous experience with circuit card assembly processes.

Responsibilities

  • Baseline factory metrics such as scrap, rework, and first-pass yield; identify top drivers and use future demand to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Engage and support shop-floor personnel and manufacturing defect-prevention teams to align on priorities using baseline data and future forecasts.
  • Drive and facilitate compliance resolution, containment, root-cause analysis, corrective-action implementation, verification, and validation.
  • Perform process walks and operator observations, and lead manufacturing-team discussions to reduce process variation.
  • Lead APQP initiatives, including PFMEA, control plans, and SPC, using baseline metrics and future demand to facilitate defect prevention.
