About The Position

The Classified Infrastructure Services department provides expertise to programs in Networking, High Performance Computing, and Storage & Data Protection. As a Principal Network Engineer for this high-impact team, you will provide Subject Matter Expertise within the networking discipline. You will support operational teams by bringing your advanced networking knowledge and troubleshooting ability. As a Principal Network Engineer, you will research new technologies, collaborate with other organizations, and help drive the network roadmap and vision. This is an on-site position which will be based in the Tucson, AZ office and may require occasional travel to other local and US Domestic locations approximately 30% of time. Relocation support will be available if the selected applicant meets company policy. Focuses on Inter-team communication and organization of clear documentation of network details to support and enable smooth project growth. Maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network Develop technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, encryptors etc. Maintains network management software platforms Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings aligning with future requirements factoring in redundancy and required network uptime.

Requirements

  • Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or an advanced Degree and a minimum of 6 years’ experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret DOD security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, and authentication servers.
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.
  • Experience with platforms such as Cisco ISE, Cisco Call Manager, NTP servers, General Dynamics GemOne, and SolarWinds.
  • Experience configuring, updating, and troubleshooting encryption devices and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with classified computing, NIST and other Security doctrine, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
  • Experience with project management, team leadership, and personnel development.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with limited supervision.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office technologies including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Certifications in Security+ within 6 months and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) level certification within a year.
  • Working knowledge of network security and infrastructure best practices.
  • Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced knowledge in support of (software/firmware/hardware) LAN/WAN components including routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco/Palo Alto).
  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize network system performance, proactively identifying and quickly resolving service impacting issues.
  • Review system vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with recognized industry standards and best practices.
  • Drive and/or participate in projects in support of installation and/or improvement to voice, video, and network infrastructure.
  • Produce, update, and generally improve technical documentation to support security requirements and operational support of systems.
  • Propose to management and configure network solutions, meeting all communications requirements based on future needs, current usage, cost savings, and availability.
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for network infrastructure.
  • Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance and procurement for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support.
  • Assist in the overall performance and capability of technical teams through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.
  • Willingness and availability to travel to local and other U.S domestic sites approximately 30% of time.
  • Must be able to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.
