About The Position

Questrade Financial Group (QFG) is seeking a highly skilled Networking and Security Engineer with expertise in Cloud (preferably GCP) and on-prem networking and security, along with strong data center networking experience. As a member of the Infrastructure and Cloud Operations Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the networking infrastructure on GCP and On-prem, ensuring its security, reliability, and scalability. The role involves leveraging AI to transform and deliver unparalleled customer experiences and shaping a future where AI empowers teams to do their best work. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) networking services, including VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, load balancers, and VPN connections.
  • In-depth knowledge of GCP security features, including VPC Service control, IAM, Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP), Cloud Security Command Center, and data encryption.
  • Extensive experience with data centers networking technologies and protocols, such as Cisco switches(Cat and N9Ks) and routers, Fortinet firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in well-known protocols and standards (i.e. VLANs, Spanning-Tree, OSPF, BGP, DNS, 802.1x, IPsec, VxLAN).
  • Proficiency or strong knowledge in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform, for automating network infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles and experience working in a DevOps-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies, particularly Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and the ability to integrate network solutions with Kubernetes clusters.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, NSE 7, Google Certified Professional - Network Engineer, or Google Certified Architect are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage GCP networking solutions, including virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, firewall rules, load balancers, and VPN connections.
  • Design, deploy and manage on-premise data center network architecture.
  • Implement and maintain secure network architectures and access controls, utilizing GCP's security features and best practices.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather networking requirements and provide technical guidance for designing and configuring network topologies.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and software engineering teams to integrate network solutions into the overall infrastructure and application deployments.
  • Automate network infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and perform root cause analysis for network-related incidents.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in GCP networking, security, and data center networking.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior members of the Networking team.
