About The Position

Build the next generation of digital banking platforms. At Aequilibrium, we help Canada's leading financial institutions modernize digital banking through cloud-native platforms, AI, XR, and enterprise software engineering. We're looking for a Principal .NET Engineer to help architect and build distributed backend systems powering digital banking experiences used by hundreds of thousands of members. This is not a traditional CRUD application role. You'll work on large-scale distributed services integrating digital banking, identity, payments, and core banking platforms while partnering with senior architects and engineering leaders. Requirements

10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Extensive experience building enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservice architectures.
Strong experience designing scalable REST APIs and asynchronous messaging solutions.
Experience with distributed application frameworks such as MassTransit.
Experience designing cloud-native applications on Azure.
Strong knowledge of SQL Server and enterprise data modeling.
Advanced understanding of UI/UX design principles and how backend architecture supports exceptional user experiences.
Experience working in Agile engineering environments.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with architects and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable distributed backend services using modern .NET technologies.
Architect integrations between digital banking platforms, payment systems, identity providers, and core banking applications.
Lead technical design discussions and influence architecture decisions.
Build resilient microservices capable of supporting high-volume financial transactions.
Collaborate with solution architects, product managers, product managers, UX designers, and engineering teams.
Review architecture and code to maintain high engineering standards.
Mentor senior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
Help modernize legacy systems into cloud-native distributed platforms.
