About The Position

SLR Consulting (Americas) is seeking a Principal Mine Permitting & NEPA Consultant to guide high-profile natural resource and mining projects in Arizona and the Southwestern states, with potential expansion across other U.S. regions. This senior, client-facing role requires strategic leadership in responsible resource development, leveraging technical expertise to influence regulators, engage stakeholders, and guide multi-disciplinary teams. The consultant will manage multidisciplinary regulatory projects, guide major natural resource projects to successful approval, and play a significant role in growing the mining business and environmental professional team in the Southwest U.S. Responsibilities include leading consulting projects for key mining clients, mentoring staff, and fostering a culture of quality and excellence.

Requirements

Be a trusted advisor to the mining industry, as well as reputable working relationship with regulators and stakeholders.
Possess strong technical expertise in NEPA, permitting and compliance for the mining industry.
Exhibit deep knowledge of the US federal and state specific environmental regulations applicable to the mining industry.
Have a proven and sustained record of successful business development, client relationship management, and proposal management for the mining industry with demonstrated sales growth.
Maintain a strong network of mining industry contacts, as well as other business contacts and potential team partners (e.g., legal, or analytical service providers) in the mining industry.
Bachelor and/or Master of Science degree(s) in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
Minimum of 15 years’ experience with permitting, compliance, and NEPA in the mining sector, including demonstrated success leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
Strong consulting experience, with proven ability to manage client relationships and grow business opportunities.
Experience in delivering regulatory support to mining clients.
Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state environmental regulations and permitting requirements applicable to the mining industry, with strong experience in mine design and engineering integration into regulatory applicability, analysis and interpretation.
Established reputation in the mining industry, with demonstrated credibility and visibility through regulatory engagement, client relationships, published work, conference participation, and/or industry association involvement.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and inspire technical teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, facilitation, and executive-level presentation.
Strong written communication skills for high level of report writing and peer review capabilities.
Professional Designation with appropriate Professional Organization.
