About The Position

Raytheon is looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Space & Airborne Power & Digital Department, supporting our analog mechanism control designs. The applicant will support designs of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and Units that provide power and control for mechanisms and other external devices, with special emphasis on design for manufacturing, assembly, test, and cost. Developing innovative technical solutions to a wide range of complex challenges spanning the entire product lifecycle, including proposal, advanced development, design, manufacturing, integration, and testing of missiles and launchers, support equipment and electronics for military programs. Perform mechanical design analyses utilizing engineering fundamentals to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended by design for the use-application. Support component level design and test reviews. Raytheon has a strong culture of mentoring; it is expected that employees will be both mentors and mentees. Collaboration with both Functional and Program higher level management. Collaboration with Customer and Suppliers. Assignment may require some travel (~25%). Assignments may include being a team member or guiding a team through several phases of hardware systems lifecycle such as designs and analysis; architecting new electronic systems; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans; peer reviews of designs as a subject matter expert; presentations to peers, management, and government customers; and root-cause failure investigations.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics related field and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
Eight years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Electronics packaging design, integration, and production support
Participate in design reviews and conduct trade studies to support informed, sound engineering decisions.
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, contributing to team development and technical growth.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

Technical Data Package creation using GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerances), change notice processing including communication of required functional and performance requirements.
Experience using CREO CAD design and documentation tools or similar 3D solid modeling software with a configuration and data management environment.
Prior experience as a technical leader on a complex subsystem during Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) Phase
Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degrees.
Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
Highly self-motivated individual that can perform multidiscipline work
Able to network and/or influence outside of the Department with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines and Manufacturing organizations.
Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
Experience working with satellite or similar systems.
Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.

Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, contributing to team development and technical growth.
