Principal Marketing Analyst

AdvancedMDSouth Jordan, UT

About The Position

AdvancedMD is entering a defining chapter, building marketing into a true growth engine for both its established sales-led platform and a new product-led motion. The Principal Marketing Analyst is the first analyst role on the Marketing Analytics & Operations team and an individual contributor position. This role will help define marketing measurement, including KPIs, reporting foundation, and the analysis that shapes marketing decisions. The role involves working in an agile environment with two modes: immediate, by sitting with marketing partners to answer questions and troubleshoot data, and durable, by defining KPIs, building models, and creating reports for future use. The challenge lies in managing both aspects simultaneously while the martech stack is being overhauled and before a formal warehouse is in place. The role offers influence over the martech stack's shape and is in close partnership with the Head of Marketing Analytics & Operations. This position is ideal for someone who wants to make a marketing organization measurable and prefers a blank page over a maintenance backlog.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Demonstrated analytical ability and work history are weighted over credentials.
  • Substantial experience analyzing marketing performance in a role where you owned the analysis end to end, not just the report refresh.
  • Advanced SQL: complex joins, window functions, CTEs, and query performance tuning (using Starburst).
  • Strong hands-on BI development in Power BI, including data modeling and DAX. Deep experience in similar tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.) also considered.
  • Working data modeling skills: building semantic and reporting layers on top of imperfect source data. Resourcefulness is needed when the clean table you want doesn't exist.
  • Working knowledge of web or product analytics data (using GA4).
  • Fluency with how marketing actually works — demand generation, paid media, lifecycle, and funnel stages — and a point of view on what good performance looks like.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong troubleshooting instincts.
  • A track record of structuring loosely defined problems and moving them forward without waiting to be told how.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with non-technical partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in SaaS, healthcare, or health IT.
  • Experience supporting both a sales-led and a product-led motion.
  • Experience building marketing measurement from the ground up in an environment without a mature warehouse.
  • Experience with a managed query service or cloud data platform (Starburst, Athena, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Python used in service of answering questions faster or better.
  • Working knowledge of marketing automation data (Marketo or similar).
  • Familiarity with CRM data structures such as Salesforce.
  • Experience through a martech migration or replatforming.

Responsibilities

  • Answer marketing's questions across the funnel — paid media efficiency, conversion and drop-off, lifecycle performance, pipeline contribution — and match the depth of analysis to what the decision requires.
  • Run proactive analysis: find the thing nobody asked about, size it, and bring it forward with a recommendation.
  • Trace marketing data end to end, from first touch through pipeline and revenue, and troubleshoot it when it breaks.
  • Build out measurement for our new product-led motion ahead of and through launch, including self-serve signup, activation, and early product usage.
  • Bring measurement rigor to channel and campaign evaluation, including test design, holdouts, incrementality, and well-founded skepticism about attribution.
  • Partner with the Head of Marketing Analytics & Operations to define, build, and own marketing's core KPIs and the definitions behind them.
  • Build the semantic, pre-report, and report-layer models that make marketing reporting reusable instead of rebuilt.
  • Design and maintain Power BI reporting that stakeholders genuinely use, and retire what they don't.
  • Document definitions, logic, and caveats so the work outlasts any single analysis.
  • Work embedded with a small group of marketing stakeholders, turning ambiguous asks into clear questions and clear answers.
  • Communicate findings so decisions follow: plain language, appropriate confidence, honest about what the data can and cannot support.
  • Help shape marketing's data layer as the stack modernizes — partnering with our data engineer to bring in new sources, and with company data and BI counterparts on shared standards.
  • Serve as a trusted, go-to input whenever marketing needs data-driven guidance.
