Northrop Grumman's Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Manufacturing Engineer - Level 2 or Level 3 to join our Launch Systems Manufacturing Integration Team in Chandler, AZ. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of related experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of related experience (for Level 2)
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience (for Level 3)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance
  • Experienced in creating, supporting & sustaining the use of Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) work instructions
  • Proficient in DFM
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, procedures work cell layout, production build sequence, tooling design, troubleshooting/corrective action, and quality assurance.
  • Experience adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
  • Familiarity working with CAD, NX, Costpoint and Teamcenter

Responsibilities

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plans.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, investigate and initiate corrective actions for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding Design For Manufacturing (DFM) concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
