You will provide System Administration in a heterogeneous Redhat 8 & 9 Enterprise Linux environment. You will utilize virtualization and containerization technologies, including VMware vCenter, vSphere, Horizon, ESXi, KVM, Podman, Docker, and Kubernetes/OpenShift. Collaborate with engineers, software developers, systems administrators, storage, networking, and high-performance computing teams to resolve complex infrastructure and integration challenges. Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous compliance with regulatory and security frameworks such as DFARS, RMF, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Provide critical, on-site support for mission systems in a closed DoD area, responding to both planned and emergent tasks, with occasional work outside standard hours and up to 10% travel as required. Obtain and maintain DoD 8140 / 8570 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) within six months of hire. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to support business needs, including adjusting to shift changes.

Requirements

  • Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including system installation, administration, patching, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with secure system configurations, system hardening, application settings, and tailoring Linux environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong leadership, teamwork, communication (written and oral), collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Deep experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and its ecosystem, including authentication and identity services (SSSD, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS) and file sharing/integration services (Samba, NFS).
  • Expertise with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Red Hat Satellite, along with strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, Perl, or C to support provisioning, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with enterprise storage systems (e.g., NetApp) and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technologies such as Horizon, Profile Unity, and NVIDIA GPU virtualization (NLS, DLS).
  • Proficiency with monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and compliance assessment tools (ACAS, Splunk, Nessus, SCAP, STIG, Nagios, SolarWinds) and working knowledge of security frameworks (CMMC, NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, DoD RMF).
