About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising five employees and taking daily assignments from the Senior Utility Supervisor. The role involves maintaining and repairing sewer lines, manholes, and road settlements, as well as maintaining sewer easements and overseeing the sewer main flushing program. The Principal Labor Crew Chief will also conduct annual employee evaluations, maintain accurate records, respond to customer requests, and work professionally with the public. This position assumes responsibility in the absence of the Senior Utility Supervisor and performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two years’ experience in utility maintenance field
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of sanitary sewer systems maintenance and operation
  • Knowledge of utility related laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of underground utility repair techniques
  • Good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of OSHA construction standard requirements related to excavations and trench safety
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "A" required or must have ability to obtain within one year of employment
  • Current valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months (based on Virginia DMV point system)
  • Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview
  • Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date
  • Pre-employment drug testing
  • FBI criminal background check
  • Education/degree verification
  • Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment
