About The Position

The Principal IT Architect is a cross-project and cross-discipline role responsible for the creation, governance, maintenance, and communication of Constellation's current-state and future-state Architectures. This individual will collaborate with Constellation leadership to set direction for the Architecture organization and support IT/Business functions. The role involves providing infrastructure/platform/governance strategy, architecture, and technical leadership for a portfolio of technologies that form the foundation for Constellation IT business applications, services, and solutions. Principal architects need a broad technical and business understanding, along with the attention to detail to translate strategy into actionable plans. A key focus area is serving as the Responsible AI (RAI) Champion, advocating for ethical and responsible AI implementation, bridging technical excellence with ethical considerations, and ensuring AI solutions align with organizational values and societal impact. The RAI Champion will be part of a larger Responsible AI team focused on executing governance, managing AI applications, cataloging AI use cases, advising on compliance with RAI policies and regulations, defining architectural patterns for RAI technology, and supporting the adoption of RAI capabilities. Success in this role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including Business and IT leadership, application portfolio owners, architects, engineering/operations teams, and consulting partners. The ideal candidate will be proactive, open-minded, curious, and possess strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to deliver strategic direction and design artifacts.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Business Administration
10-years technical experience designing, developing, and delivering medium to large scale software solutions.
5-years technical experience designing, developing, and delivering AI/ML solutions.
Experience utilizing Microsoft technologies and Azure components
Recognized subject matter expert in Generative AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science
Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals
Ability to work independently, collaboratively with minimal supervision
Perseverance in the face of setbacks
Must be willing to travel 25%

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree or MBA
Professional IT Architecture education or certification
Demonstrated experience contributing to Responsible AI governance initiatives

Responsibilities

Provide technical and security expertise to IT and business teams to identify security technology solutions and develop security reference architectures and strategies.
Manage and monitor multiple intake channels for evaluating proposed and active implementations of AI.
Ensure appropriate implementation of technology within both development and production environments by leveraging Responsible AI processes.
Provide technological expertise and advice to IT and Business leadership in the development of strategic information technology plans tied to AI.
Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners.
Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis through partnership with the Responsible AI program lead.
Participate in governance mechanisms and ensure that architecture deliverables exceed AI governance standards.
Maintain awareness of trends and issues in area of technical expertise; evaluate new technologies or technology opportunities and provide analysis of their potential impact to the business.
Provide coaching/mentorship for IT personnel.
Participate in career development and recognition activities.
Promote inclusion and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization.
