About The Position

As a Principal H/W Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the Design of electronic hardware and software that meet our customers’ quality and delivery requirements. Optimum is recognized as one of the most respected electronic design services company in the US and Australia. The main markets we serve are high-speed networking, telecommunications, video processing, automotive, medical, consumer, mil/aero, and satellite communications.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Expert user of one or more of the following tools: Siemens DxDesigner (preferred), Altium and Xpedition-DxDesigner.
  • Application of formal project management and system engineering methodologies to development of complex, high performance electronics systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Analog/RF experience is a plus.
  • BLE and/or WiFi experience a plus.
  • Work history in aerospace/defense market a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Apply independence and creativity to drive project design scope and deliverables.
  • Develop Functional Design Specifications.
  • Circuit design: Digital, Analog, and Power.
  • PCIe, DDR, Microprocessor, DSP, etc.
  • I2C, SPI, PCIe, DDR3+, Ethernet, USB, CSI, DSI, etc.
  • Schematic Capture and Layout Review/Guidance/Management.
  • Pre&Post Signal and Power Integrity analysis (optional).
  • FPGA and CPLD design (Verilog, VHDL).
  • FPGA test benches and verification (ModelSim, Xilinx, Altera, etc.).
  • Develop test plans/methods to ensure product reliability and performance targets are met.
  • Prototype bring up and system integration.
  • Working knowledge of EMC/CE/UL compliance requirements.
  • Software and Firmware development.
