Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Information Technology or Engineering required
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ dedicated experience in the operation and management of geological and assay data and databases required
  • Working experience, practical knowledge and ability to manage Acquire database software as well as SQL required
  • Ability to program and design database scripts and queries in Acquire and SQL required
  • Working experience and practical knowledge of ArcGIS required
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) required
  • Practical experience and knowledge of the mining industry required
  • Practical experience and knowledge of field sampling and laboratory processes required
  • Practical experience and knowledge of QA/QC as applied to sampling and assay required

Nice To Haves

  • Postgraduate certifications related to Information Technology or Data Management preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience with Vulcan mining software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and oversight of enterprise geological data architecture, ensuring robust structures for geological, assay, and spatial data across the portfolio, and implement digital platforms for transparency of data systems
  • Promote standardized approaches to data storage, structure, and accessibility across operations.
  • Ensure geological datasets supporting Resource and Reserve estimates are secure, traceable, and auditable.
  • Develop and maintain standardized systems and workflows for Resource & Reserve reporting and geological data management.
  • Support consistent data structures used for corporate reporting, disclosure, and technical reviews.
  • Improve integration between geological databases, modeling platforms, and reporting systems.
  • Establish and maintain standards for geological data quality, validation, and QA/QC practices.
  • Ensure critical datasets supporting Resource estimation are verified, validated, and properly documented.
  • Identify systemic data quality risks and work with operations to improve data reliability and integrity.
  • Develop analytical tools and workflows to support geological analysis, resource evaluation, and technical decision-making.
  • Promote the use of data analytics and visualization to improve geological insight and reporting transparency.
  • Support advanced analysis of drilling data, resource model performance, and reconciliation trends.
  • Identify and implement technologies that improve geological data management, analytics, and reporting efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging tools in data science, machine learning, and geological data platforms that enhance orebody understanding and resource workflows.
  • Promote innovation in digital geological workflows and data integration across the portfolio.
  • Support integration of geological data systems across operations to enable consistent reporting and portfolio-level analysis.
  • Facilitate interoperability between drilling databases, geological modeling platforms, and corporate reporting systems.
  • Improve visibility of geological and Resource data across the organization.
  • Provide guidance to site teams on database structure, data management workflows, and QA/QC practices.
  • Promote adoption of best practices in geological data management and analytics.
  • Support capability development in data-driven geological workflows across the organization.
  • Escalation of material data integrity matters to Director, Geology 
  • Improvement in QA/QC compliance and validation of geological datasets across operations.
  • Reduction in data errors, inconsistencies, or gaps in critical datasets used for Resource estimation.
  • Demonstrated traceability and auditability of datasets supporting Resource & Reserve estimates and reporting. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned
