About The Position

Fidelity is seeking a product-aware, collaborative engineer to build digital experiences and supporting platforms for customers using Fidelity.com, Fidelity Mobile, Investor Centers, and other applications. The Principal Front End Developer will help create omni-channel user experiences and take features from concept through deployment as part of autonomous, cross-functional teams. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, architecture, mentoring, and collaboration across technology partners in a fast-paced Scrum environment.

Requirements

10 years of software development experience.
Proven expertise architecting and developing multi-tier internet-facing web and mobile applications and APIs.
Expertise developing detailed technical specifications and architecture for complex systems.
Proven ability to mentor engineers, manage technology roadmaps, and facilitate collaboration across technology partners.
Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, and browser developer-tools skills.
Experience developing JavaScript, Angular, and Node.js web applications in a fast-paced Scrum environment.
Understanding of HTTP-based APIs, networking, and how the internet works.
Understanding of asynchronous code, including promises, callbacks, and event loops.
Experience with Angular and Node.js frameworks and tools including NPM and Express.
Experience with JavaScript tooling such as ESLint, Webpack, Grunt, and Gulp.
Experience with automated testing and automation tools/frameworks such as Mocha, Jasmine, Selenium, and Protractor.
Experience with DevOps, automated testing, and continuous delivery; tools cited include Groovy, Jenkins, and Concourse.
Experience with API design and development and microservices architecture.
Advanced Git skills.
Expertise with one IDE, such as VS Code or WebStorm.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Exposure to native mobile development on iOS and/or Android.
Experience with containerization, Docker, and orchestration.
Comfort with visual design and rapid prototyping.

Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and maintain multi-tier internet-facing web and mobile applications, APIs, and complex systems.
Build features and front-end solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, Node.js, CSS, and HTML.
Develop technical specifications and architecture for complex systems.
Manage technology roadmaps and facilitate collaboration across technology partners.
Translate business initiatives and requirements into software solutions; analyze business requirements and system development specifications.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for applications and subsystems.
Participate in iteration planning to maintain team velocity and deliver quality each sprint.
Troubleshoot issues, tune performance, provide production support, and maintain existing applications.
Resolve technical roadblocks involving multiple technologies and coordinate delivery of technical components across teams.
Ensure code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing are completed effectively.
Provide technical leadership and mentor more junior engineers.
Contribute to process improvements that maximize product-team velocity.
