Principal FPGA Design Engineer

RTX•Tucson, AZ
•$107,500 - $204,500•Onsite

About The Position

The Principal FPGA Design Engineer will develop FPGA designs for major vendors and device families, including Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi. Designs are implemented in VHDL for applications such as gigabit serial interfaces, RF and EO digital signal processing, controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces. The Effector Digital Products department develops electronics for weapon system products and is responsible for architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable FPGA embedded processing, from early system development through deployment. The engineer works with circuit card designers and systems engineers to define requirements, architect parts, collaboratively model algorithms, partition designs, develop code, simulate, and perform place and route. Designs are verified against requirements using directed and constrained-random methodologies. The role supports the design lifecycle from requirements definition through integration and test, including documentation and configuration management. This is a 100% onsite position in Tucson, Arizona, and requires a U.S. government security clearance.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with FPGA/ASIC design using VHDL and/or Verilog, or FPGA/ASIC verification using SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with Xilinx or Microsemi devices and flow tools.
  • Experience delivering FPGA/ASIC solutions for system-level applications.
  • Hands-on experience integrating and debugging FPGA/ASIC devices.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance required before start; U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
  • Ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance before start.
