Principal Financial Analyst – Electrophysiology Therapies (EPT) Clinical
About The Position
The Principal Financial Analyst supports Medtronic’s Electrophysiology Therapies (EPT) Clinical Research organization as a strategic finance partner to clinical leaders. This senior individual-contributor role provides financial leadership across pre-market and post-market clinical studies, supporting financial planning, forecasting, transparency, and decisions related to development and regulatory milestones. The position works closely with clinical, therapy development, and finance leadership, operates with substantial independence, and influences cross-functional teams without direct authority. The role is based onsite in Mounds View, Minnesota, with a minimum of four onsite workdays per week. It supports critical investment and portfolio decisions across EPT and helps strengthen financial rigor, forecasting, reporting, and planning for the clinical research portfolio.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- For a bachelor’s degree earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary finance partner to clinical leadership and the team, supporting financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for the global clinical organization.
- Lead financial planning and reporting for the EPT clinical study portfolio, including pre-market and post-market studies.
- Maintain and enhance financial models for clinical studies, aligning study design, enrollment assumptions, timelines, and financial projections.
- Partner with clinical operations teams to monitor enrollment, site activation, and training activities for accurate clinical study spending forecasts.
- Provide financial leadership for external research and investigator-sponsored research programs, including planning, forecasting, and financial tracking.
- Deliver consolidated reporting, key metrics, and financial insights to support leadership decision-making across the clinical research portfolio.
- Drive financial rigor and transparency across clinical research investments and support governance reviews and long-range planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy, financial processes, and reporting tools for the clinical research organization.
