About The Position

We are seeking an analytic problem solver and detail-oriented team member to join our Card Finance Team. As a Principal Analyst of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you will be responsible for financial forecasting, executive reporting and presentations, and relationship building. You will manage P&L performance and provide Card Leadership with financial insights to influence strategy and drive business outcomes. Strong storytelling and analytical problem solving skills will be key to success in this role. In this role, you will own the reporting and forecasting for Capital One’s marketing expenses. Marketing expenses are predominantly leveraged to acquire new customer relationships and are key to the future earnings power of the company, as well as our focus on Brand. The ideal candidate will use strong communication, problem solving, and strategic thinking to effectively: Formulate and articulate analytics and insights in a way that tells a compelling financial story Proactively identify and address potential financial risks and opportunities Foster trusted relationships, including with peers & senior leaders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis, modeling, or a combination

Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and Profit & Loss (P&L) management
  • Coordinate and collect input data from Financial Analysts in different departments, check data integrity, summarize and convert data, run models, verify, analyze, and communicate output data
  • Business presentations: Assist in development of presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences, clearly articulate outcomes of analysis to leadership teams
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects
  • Independently manage and prioritize workload
  • Perform financial data analysis in preparing Profit & Loss or other statements
  • Frequently create reports for higher level associates
  • Provide management and business clients with project statuses
  • Perform reporting and analysis to support presentation and ad-hoc requests
