About The Position

The Principal Finance – Transplant Services is responsible for the financial operations of the Transplant Services program, including insurance compliance, charge integrity, billing, reimbursement, and adherence to regulatory requirements established by CMS, UNOS, and applicable organ procurement organizations. Maintains a dual reporting relationship to the Hospital CFO and the Transplant Services Administrator and serves as the primary liaison between Transplant Services and the hospital's revenue cycle and finance departments to ensure accurate and complete financial systems. Maintains consistent processes and controls related to Medicare Cost Report compliance in collaboration with the CFO and the Transplant Services Administrator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, or Commerce, with major/emphasis in Accounting
  • 5 years Professional experience in finance or related health care administration with responsibility for budget management, operations, and staff management, or equivalent.
  • Transplant finance and business experience including knowledge of transplant reimbursement and working knowledge of the Medicare Cost Report as it applies to solid organ transplantation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and manages annual operating and capital budgets; develops and distributes financial reports, service line dashboards, and ad hoc reporting
  • Monitors payor mix, FTE utilization, revenue, productivity, and expenses; creates and implements forecasting models for transplant volume, reimbursement, and resource consumption
  • Ensures timely and accurate billing, charge capture, and collection of transplant accounts, including acquisition billing and charge tracking
  • Submits data required for the Medicare Cost Report and ensures compliance with cost report regulations, including time studies and pre-transplant charge review
  • Manages transplant payer contracts in collaboration with Managed Care, including renewals, terminations, new agreements, and single case agreements; evaluates rate appropriateness and forecasts financial performance aligned with contract terms
  • Identifies and implements cost-savings opportunities and operational improvements, including technology solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Leads data analysis, process improvement, and project initiatives; develops work plans, metrics, and resources in partnership with operational and clinical leadership
  • Develops dashboards to track volume, outcomes, engagement, and financial performance; utilizes benchmarks to support program goals and define productivity standards
  • Collaborates with Transplant Medical Directors, leadership, and IT to support strategic planning, operational needs, and reporting initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned
