About The Position

Babylist is seeking a Principal Executive Recruiter to own the most consequential searches at the company, focusing on Director through C-suite roles across Product, Marketing, Operations, and new business lines. This role requires a strategic thought partner who can bring clarity to ambiguous searches, shape role narratives, and close senior leaders. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in retained executive search, particularly within growth-stage or pre-IPO companies, and a proven track record in zero-to-one searches. This is a remote-first position for an individual excited about AI and its application in recruiting.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of recruiting experience, with a sustained focus on Director through C-suite searches.
  • 8+ years leading end-to-end retained searches at a dedicated executive search firm (e.g., True Search, Daversa Partners, Heidrick & Struggles, Spencer Stuart, or similar).
  • Deep experience placing executive leaders at growth-stage or pre-IPO companies, ideally during periods of expansion.
  • Proven track record on zero-to-one searches (first-of-their-kind roles, newly formed functions, or revenue line leaders with undefined scope/leveling).
  • Experience running highly confidential searches with discretion.
  • Skilled at shaping executive role narratives from scratch and partnering with executives to define needs.
  • Comfortable operating independently to build market maps, competitive landscapes, and candidate theses without a research team.
  • Fluent in LinkedIn Recruiter, Greenhouse (ATS), and Gem (outreach sequencing).
  • Expert in executive total rewards, including structuring, benchmarking, and negotiating compensation packages (base, incentives, equity).
  • Strong executive presence, able to run calibration sessions, push back respectfully, and advise senior leaders.
  • Experienced managing external search firm partnerships.
  • Thrives in growth-stage environments with fluid roles, potential ambiguity, and lack of existing comp benchmarks.
  • High editorial bar and AI fluency, using AI for market mapping and competitive intelligence while maintaining sharp, human candidate materials.
  • Genuine excitement about AI and its application in daily work.

Responsibilities

  • Own Director through C-suite searches, including confidential, first-of-their-kind, and new vertical roles, from intake to close.
  • Lead intake sessions to define role scope, leveling, scorecard criteria, and compensation parameters.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the executive team, advising on org design and market expertise.
  • Lead executive compensation negotiations, structuring offers that reflect market reality and Babylist's philosophy.
  • Elevate every candidate touchpoint, ensuring a strong impression of Babylist regardless of outcome.
  • Manage external search firm partnerships with accountability and build internal executive search capabilities.
