Principal Engineer, Shopping Product Graph Data Infrastructure

Google•Pittsburgh, PA
•$307,000 - $427,000

About The Position

The Shopping Graph is Google's interconnected dataset of commercial information that powers shopping experiences across Search, Ads, YouTube, Discover, Chrome, and the Gemini App. The Shopping Product Graph models billions of purchasable products, their relationships, and their visual, subjective, and specification-based attributes. It combines information from web crawls, merchant catalogs, and manufacturers to create and link entities into a shared commercial model for merchants and users worldwide. As Principal Engineer for Shopping Product Graph Data Infrastructure, you will lead the architectural evolution of Google's global commerce data ecosystem and define its long-term data infrastructure strategy. You will design resilient, large-scale systems that manage billions of entities, bringing together machine learning and distributed systems to improve capability, quality, and execution velocity. The infrastructure will support AI-driven capabilities in Search, Ads, and YouTube. The role also calls for technical leadership across a broad engineering organization, mentoring senior technical leaders, and promoting engineering excellence and data-driven product innovation. The Commerce team builds shopping experiences for people who shop on Google more than a billion times a day. Its mission is to support consumers throughout the shopping journey, from inspiration to secure checkout, and help retailers and merchants connect with consumers through tools, technology, and scale.
