About The Position

NextEra Energy Engineering and Construction (E&C) is seeking a Principal Engineer to support its Clean Fuels team on fossil-fuel projects, including combined-cycle and simple-cycle power plants, cogeneration plants, and carbon capture and sequestration projects. The position is based at the company’s headquarters in Juno Beach, Florida, and supports early-stage engineering. Travel averages 35% of the time. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to continue with a project in the field as lead field engineer during construction and commissioning. The engineer is responsible for engineering across major projects that may involve four or five power plants constructed sequentially over several years at one site, or at two nearby sites. The work spans concept definition through construction and final commissioning and requires sustained coordination with stakeholders across origination, development, environmental, procurement, transmission services, third-party engineering firms, contractors, and project management. A major responsibility is managing third-party engineering firms. The role applies value engineering to balance reliability, cost, and performance, and calls for broad knowledge of applicable engineering disciplines, strong communication and stakeholder-coordination skills, and experience managing major-project schedules and budgets.
