About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Wealth Investment Management Technology (WIMT) Platform Engineering team. The role will drive the transformation of Performance Engineering and improve engineering practices by optimizing processes, streamlining workflows, and developing new capabilities. It involves substantial collaboration with technical teams and oversight of performance testing deliverables and activities for large, highly complex programs. The Principal Engineer advises leadership on technology for complex business and technical needs; develops long-term solutions to enterprise challenges; and partners with application, infrastructure, cloud, and network teams to establish performance and resiliency standards. The role owns end-to-end performance engineering for critical platforms, identifies bottlenecks, and recommends tuning and architectural improvements. It also leads WIMT resiliency programs, including chaos, stress, load, failover, breakpoint, and disaster recovery testing. The position provides technical vision and guidance, works hands-on with Performance Engineers, collaborates with the CTO team to analyze results and troubleshoot latency, and creates reusable Splunk and AppDynamics patterns, queries, and configurations. It ensures systems operate efficiently and meet performance requirements, mentors engineers, and leads resolution of complex technical challenges. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, requires flexibility for on-call work beyond normal hours and additional hours as needed, and may require travel up to 10%. Visa sponsorship is available.
