Arcadis is searching for a Principal Engineer to support and grow our Water team in White Plains, NY. This candidate will use their expertise and technical knowledge to deliver design work for water/wastewater clients in New York and across North America. This role is hybrid requiring in-office presence, flexibility to work from home and occasional field work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
  • Minimum 4 years’ of experience in engineering
  • EIT Certification
  • Detail oriented and ability to provide technical guidance and work independently as needed
  • Advanced research, data gathering, technical writing and analysis skills
  • Developing skills including technical, project management, relationship management, sector expertise and commercial awareness
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, time management and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support professional engineering services during construction, including construction observation, review of submittals and shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFIs), review of Contractor requests for deviations (RFDs), change order oversight, and permit closeouts.
  • Review QA/QC submittal reviews and RFI response comments from junior staff to ensure contract compliance.
  • Liaise with Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Communicate with varied stakeholders such as collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution.
  • Develop and understand the services delivered by Arcadis, the client’s business, and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to develop personal credibility in the industry.
  • Play a vital role in Arcadis projects that consist of both office and field work.
  • Manage tasks as a project resource to complete allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe, and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
  • Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
  • Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, asset inventory and plant operations information, process troubleshooting and optimization.
