About The Position

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Engineer Survivability - Vulnerability to join their team in Melbourne, Florida. This role is on-site and involves working on revolutionary systems in stealth technology. The selected candidate will report to the Vulnerability & Live Fire test IPT and will be responsible for understanding aircraft system vulnerability through modeling, simulation, and live fire testing. The position requires full-time, on-site work with no remote or hybrid options, and may involve up to 25% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM and 3 years of related engineering experience
  • Thorough understanding of the threats and threat effects
  • Demonstrated competence with the vulnerability analysis tool set (COVART or AJEM)
  • Construction or modification of target models
  • Use of statistical tools, i.e., JMP
  • Thorough understanding of vehicle systems and aircraft structures
  • Experiencing authoring or updating Vulnerability Assessment Reports (VARs)
  • Extensive experience with customer counterpart collaboration
  • Understanding of live fire testing
  • Incorporating live fire data and results into the vulnerability analysis
  • Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time.

Responsibilities

  • Develops target models aircraft from NX models.
  • Conducts 26 view and burst point analyses using the AJEM vulnerability analysis tool.
  • Determines contributors of overall Probability of Kill values.
  • Conducts sensitivity analyses.
  • Briefs the customer and other government officials on specific analysis assignments, including findings and status.
  • Performs planning, execution, and reporting of live fire tests.
  • Develops test concepts and derives test shot parameters.
  • Uses statistical analysis tools/processes to conduct Designs of Experiment (DOE).
  • Conducts trade studies to assess vulnerability reduction feature additions/selection based on live fire testing data.
  • Briefs the customer and other government officials on specific testing assignments, including findings and status.
