As a Principal Engineer, you will create client solutions based on business requirements. You will also mentor and assist the entire Network Engineering (NE) team in the development and implementation of client solutions. The scope of the solutions involves advanced networks (SDWAN, Autonomous, Campus and LAN switching), data center, security, and virtualization technologies; as well as development of fault and performance management policies and automation rules. Responsible for assisting the Network Engineers in proactive client engagement at all client levels and serving as an escalation Engineer for all levels of client engagement. Responsible for technology lifecycle development, and planning & coordination with various internal/external stakeholders. The Principal Engineer (PE) Role will have ownership for standard and custom solution development initiatives. The PE will Mentor and Assist the Engineering team with systems and device network management certification for Managed Services solutions. The PE role will have close collaboration with Engineering, PMO, Verizon Product Development, and various Verizon and external delivery and support teams. This collaboration includes development of client project designs and providing assistance with implementation of client projects. Provide mentoring, technical training and support for the Lifecycle Engineering and Implementation Engineering teams. Design and support solutions involving, but not limited to, WAN, LAN, WLAN, VoIP, Data Analytics, Security and Virtual (e.g.; Virtualization, SDN, NFV) technologies. Analyze, evaluate and communicate network capacity and performance data with the objective of driving improvements to customer's network. Responsible for overseeing customer network documentation such as solution design document, record of change, and network diagrams. Serve as the escalation engineer to Tier 3 support for customer incidents. Responsible for presentations and demonstrations related to technology, process, or client solutions. Requires ownership of solution designs, critical issues as an escalation engineer. Relied on for creative thinking, and problem resolution skills. Position may require after hours support. You have a thorough working knowledge of the following technologies: Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, OMP, Static Routes, Policy Routing, Route redistribution) Switching (Spanning-Tree, VLANs, Trunking, EtherChannel) QoS (Traffic Shaping, Route-maps, etc.) Security (AAA configuration, Certificates, Network Address Translation (NAT),Access Control Lists (ACLs), VRF segmentation) Cisco SDWAN (Topology Build, Template Creation, HA Configuration, SDWAN,DIA Concepts - Guest Service, Direct Internet Service, Cloud Services, etc.) Wireless/Wifi (WAPS, Wireless Controllers (WLCs), Wireless site surveys, heat map generation) WAN Technologies (MPLS, Broadband, Wireless/5G/LTE/FWA/CradlePoint, Satellite ( StarLink)) VoIP (IP Phones, Gateways, ATAs) F5 Load Balancer (LTM) and F5 VCMP technologies. Cloud - Verizon (Secure Cloud Interconnect (SCI), Verizon Software Defined Interconnect (SDI)(Equinix) , Cisco SDWAN Cloud Onramp for Multicloud Network Troubleshooting Responsible for the protection of Verizon customer proprietary network information and Verizon information assets.
