As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing best practices, building modern data architectures, and enabling self-service analytics for stakeholders globally. Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and Power BI.
  • Proven expertise designing and implementing Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion architectures within Fabric, Databricks, or Synapse environments.
  • Highly skilled in OneLake, OneLake Catalog, Microsoft Purview, and modern data governance practices including metadata management, sensitivity labels, and endorsements.
  • Strong experience building semantic models, developing Power BI reporting solutions, and delivering scalable data engineering and orchestration frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while influencing enterprise-wide decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and standardise existing Microsoft Fabric workspaces, ensuring alignment with approved architecture, governance standards, security requirements, and naming conventions.
  • Build a model domain reference implementation, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, end-to-end data pipelines, semantic models, and reporting capabilities.
  • Assess all existing Fabric workspaces, develop migration strategies, classify migration approaches, and deliver prioritised migration plans.
  • Configure and govern OneLake Catalog capabilities, including metadata, endorsements, sensitivity labels, ownership information, and self-service discovery features.
  • Monitor Fabric platform performance, capacity utilisation, access controls, and governance compliance while continuously improving platform standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, technology teams, and business stakeholders on Microsoft Fabric best practices and architecture.
