About The Position

This is a great opportunity to get involved with exciting and challenging EPC Power Projects. Responsibilities include serving as a Mechanical Lead on an EPC Power Project, providing strong leadership to drive mechanical technical design and project coordination, managing project schedules and budgets, and preparing weekly reports to communicate project status, issues, and needs. The role involves preparing and maintaining resource plans, equipment inquiry/RFQ packages, and technical bid evaluations. Reviewing equipment vendor documents for compliance with project specifications and industry standards, developing job notes and technical scopes of work, and performing field walk downs are also key responsibilities. The position requires preparing man-hour estimates for proposals, attending client, vendor, and internal team meetings, and presenting technical information. The engineer will independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, providing specific technical expertise and training. They will also lead, coordinate, and review the work of a small staff of engineers and designers. As a Licensed Professional Engineer, the role involves sealing and signing documentation, potentially including work done by engineers under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
  • Professional Engineers License
  • 15+ years of experience working in the Power, Refining, or Chemical Industries.
  • Strong background in heat exchangers, pumps, ASME pressure vessels, and ASME piping codes.
  • Experience in the specification of Power Plant Equipment including CTGs, STGs, and HRSGs.
  • Knowledge of EPC Project execution model.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for coordination with internal team members as well as Vendors and Clients.
  • Willingness to learn and work on a variety of tasks within multiple industries.
  • Willingness to travel and work in office and field environments.
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement and career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Mechanical Lead on an EPC Power Project.
  • Provide strong leadership to drive mechanical technical design and project coordination.
  • Manage Project Schedules and Budgets as well as provide weekly reports to communicate project status, issues, and needs.
  • Prepare and maintain resource plans.
  • Prepare equipment inquiry/RFQ packages.
  • Perform equipment technical bid evaluations and prepare recommendations.
  • Review equipment vendor documents for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop job notes and technical scopes of work.
  • Perform field walk downs to collect information required to complete work.
  • Prepare man-hour estimates for proposals.
  • Attend Client, Vendor, and Internal Team meetings.
  • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel: both within the company and for the customer.
  • Lead, coordinate, and review work of a small staff of engineers and designers.
  • As a Licensed Professional Engineer, seals and signs documentation produced by own work. May also seal and sign work done by engineers under direct supervision.
