Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. The Energetics and Propulsion Department is an engineering organization in the Hardware Engineering Directorate. This Department is responsible for the full spectrum of warhead, fuzing, and propulsion designs/technology, including power systems, ignition, and all other weapon initiation safety systems technology. An individual in this role will be expected to work with a product team and functional subject matter experts to develop architectures, top level design concepts, requirements, and manage production efforts for a variety of one shots devices (i.e. initiators, gas generators, pyroswitches, explosive bolts). This position is an remote role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in power sources / one shots / engineering technology and/or engineering design
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree
  • Ten (10) or more years of directly related experience in energetic, fuze, or propulsive devices and their applications
  • Directly related experience in one shots subsystems design, development, and test
  • Experience in working with and managing suppliers
  • Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW)
  • Working knowledge or experience with either missile design or development, production support and integration
  • Experience with DoD customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadership
  • Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance (Department of Defense)

Responsibilities

  • Complex problem solving
  • Responsible for technical execution of tasks
  • Commitment to program schedule and budget
  • Technical oversight of our power source batteries and/or one shot development programs
  • Ensure two-way communication management; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning resource technical assignments
  • Contribute to technology development roadmaps
  • Support failure analysis and corrective action through redesign of failed power source or one shot device components or systems
  • Present power source and/or one shot device design models and supporting analyses/test results to internal and customer review meetings
  • Support proposals requiring one shots technologies
  • Support development of Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS)
  • Oversee fact-finding and contract negotiations
  • Test data reduction
  • Ensure technical rigor and depth of all deliverables
  • Must be willing to travel to suppliers and government facilities
  • Proposal and cost preparation, requirements definition, and one shot device subsystems analysis, test and verification; operational test support; supplier collaboration
