The Systems Architect – Electrification role for Electrical Systems requires broad technical and organizational leadership that will help shape strategy, help with a technology vision, and drive systems technology with our military and commercial businesses. This role will be responsible for shaping and driving a systems electrification roadmap, obtaining stakeholder buy in from critical subsystems of generation, control, distribution, and protection. This includes making system trade offs between electrical, thermal, structural, and other disciplines. This requires both leadership in new technology areas as well as partnering with other leaders in relevant disciplines. Lead by example—mentoring team members and collaborating with peers to turn high-level strategy into technical reality. You’ll play a vital role in recruiting diverse talent that respects our values but isn't afraid to challenge the status quo to better serve our markets. Help identify long-term technical system and subsystem challenges as well as specific growth opportunities regarding electrical systems and associated subsystem for current and future more electric or electrified vehicles in air, land, marine, and space environments. Partner closely with team members spanning multiple technology domains within GE Aerospace Research and across the GE Aerospace business, including the global Digital & Electrical Systems (DES), Materials & Manufacturing Technology, Aerothermal & Mechanical Systems Technology disciplines, and associated technologists within GE Aerospace. Originate and lead major programs in key business units and with key government agencies such as DARPA, NASA, DOD (AFRL, ARL, ONR, … ) and others. Develop strong networks among GE Aerospace, our suppliers, partners, and external customers (including academia, government agencies/labs, and other partners) to build teams focused on maximizing outcomes and accelerating innovation. Coordinate and host internal and external visitors; enable GE Aerospace Research multi-disciplinary teams to see the future through collaborative, external engagements.
