USA Waste-Management Resources, LLC has an opening for a full-time Principal Engineer, Digital QA in Houston, TX. This role involves conducting highly complex quality assurance tests and analysis to ensure software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements. The Principal Engineer will perform technically advanced or in-depth development and execution of test cases, working closely with Project Management, Quality Assurance, and Development teams on multiple, multi-faceted projects from creation to completion. Responsibilities include solving highly technical and complex problems, providing consultative support to internal staff, reporting quality metrics to Senior management, and administering the problem management process. The role ensures system tests are successfully completed and documented, and all problems are resolved. It also involves identifying, recommending, and implementing changes to enhance the effectiveness of quality assurance strategies and making recommendations to superiors regarding software acquisition or implementation to increase information systems efficiency. The position provides oversight of functional, business process, and technical testing services for designated software and business process development projects, and externally developed projects, from initiation through to implementation. The ideal candidate is an expert in all aspects of the software development lifecycle in a structured environment and can provide supervision in a small to medium-sized team environment. They will write effective test plans and understand test strategy and project risk, particularly from a quality perspective. Additional duties include resource mobilization for projects, implementing and monitoring processes for offshore testing, defining the scope of testing within the context of each release/delivery, advocating for the appropriate level of quality by resolving important defects, and taking responsibility for the production and approval of all testing deliverables and achievement of testing milestones. The role also involves managing all risks associated with testing and taking preventative action when risks become unacceptable, and providing authoritative advice and guidance to colleagues on any aspect of testing, including training for testers and other developers where appropriate. Collaboration with the Business team to create UAT test planning and support throughout UAT is also required. This is a hybrid position, requiring reporting to the office at 800 Capitol St., Suite 3000, Houston, TX 77002 four days a week.
