About The Position

This role involves owning the architectural direction for the commercial application portfolio, encompassing both custom-built applications and technology platforms. The Commercial Architect will support software selection decisions, define architecture patterns, and ensure that architectures meet information security requirements. A key aspect of this role is to work closely with product owners and engineering teams as an active, embedded partner in delivery. The position also requires business domain expertise in retail and consumer packaged goods, including experience with technologies and processes such as sales/customer relationship management, category management, retail execution, and field workforce management. The architect will build credibility as a technology advisor to business stakeholders and advise on building shared capability, reusability, and user experience within commercial applications. Additionally, the role involves designing end-to-end data flows between commercial systems and the data/analytics/AI platform, ensuring commercial systems support emerging AI use cases, and defining data architecture patterns that maintain data security. The architect will also plan and shape integrations between commercial and corporate systems, collaborating with enterprise application teams to jointly design patterns and delivery approaches. Finally, the role requires active participation in the enterprise architecture practice, collaborating with peer architects, and contributing to shared governance, architecture standards, and ways of working.

Requirements

Enterprise and / or deep solution architecture for custom and technology platform applications
Software selection, pattern definition, and product team partnership
Integration architecture between custom / technology platform applications and enterprise resource planning systems
Data design: Data flows, data model design, master data management principles, and AI technology affinity
Business domain expertise, such as retail, consumer packaged goods, field workforce management, services company service delivery, and revenue management

Responsibilities

Own the architectural direction for the commercial application portfolio across business units.
Architecture for both custom-built applications and technology platforms

Ensure architecture achieves information security requirements
Work alongside product owners and engineering teams as an active, embedded partner in delivery
Bring working knowledge of retail and consumer packaged goods business processes.
Have experience in technology and processes such as sales/customer relationship management, category management, retail execution, and field workforce management
Build credibility as a technology advisor to business stakeholders based on industry operational reality
Advise on building shared capability, reusability, and user experience within commercial applications
Design the end-to-end data flows between commercial systems and the data and analytics / AI platform.
Define flows of commercial operational data for analytics and management reporting and surfacing analytics data into commercial applications for field team use
Ensure commercial systems are designed to support emerging AI use cases
Define data architecture patterns that keep client and company data secure
Architect the integration of external industry data sources into commercial applications
Plan and shape integrations between commercial and corporate systems.
Collaborate as peer with enterprise application teams
Jointly design patterns and delivery approaches
Ensure coherent data and integration plans
Shape plans for phases of application change between parallel implementation programs
Operate as an active member of the enterprise architecture practice.
Collaborate with peer architects across commercial systems, enterprise systems, data/AI, and infrastructure/security
Build, advocate, and participate in shared governance, architecture standards, and ways of working
Contribute to keeping the practice coherent and relevant as the organization's technology agenda grows in complexity
