About The Position

WISEcode is seeking an exceptional Principal Engineer (ASP.NET) to join their mission of transforming how people understand, choose, and enjoy the foods they eat. This role is the highest-impact individual-contributor role at WISEcode, combining deep hands-on engineering with clear architectural ownership and accountability across major parts of the platform. The Principal Engineer will write excellent code, define system boundaries, set long-term technical direction, and establish engineering standards that influence the entire organization. This position is anchored in the ASP.NET ecosystem and requires deep, opinionated expertise in modern .NET application architecture. The role involves translating product ideas into durable architectures, jumpstarting high-complexity features, guiding teams on reliability, performance, and AI integration, and influencing engineering culture through mentorship. Principal Engineers operate as a flexible, high-impact bench, embedding temporarily into product teams to accelerate initiatives or unblock architectural issues. They work closely with the CTO and maintain visibility across products, data systems, and infrastructure, with success measured by the health, performance, and agility of the entire WISEcode ecosystem. WISEcode is an AI-native company, and Principal Engineers are expected to set the tone for AI integration, including integrating LLMs and ML components, understanding model behavior, using AI-assisted development, and advocating for intelligent, data-driven design.

Requirements

• BSCS or equivalent engineering degree
• 12+ years of strong professional development experience
• Demonstrated ownership of large-scale .NET / ASP.NET systems whose architecture, performance, and evolution you were personally responsible for over time
• Strong ASP.NET Blazor UI experience and genuine enthusiasm for front-end craftsmanship
• Deep expertise with Postgres, database performance tuning, schema design, and ORMs (especially EF Core)
• Proven ability to design, scale, and evolve enterprise-grade systems and distributed architectures
• Track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-team influence
• Ability to operate independently, set direction, and drive execution in ambiguous contexts
• Broad systems thinking with depth in multiple technical domains
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and ability to apply them responsibly in product development
• Startup mindset — adaptability, urgency, pragmatism, and comfort shifting between strategy and hands-on execution

Responsibilities

• Own architecture for major systems across backend, database/lakehouse, and application layers.
• Lead solution design for high-complexity initiatives and deliver production-ready implementations when needed.
• Define patterns, abstractions, and technical standards that increase velocity and consistency.
• Unblock teams by diagnosing issues across full-stack boundaries (Blazor to API to Postgres to data pipelines).
• Guide schema evolution, performance optimization, reliability engineering, and security considerations.
• Mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering culture through clarity, documentation, and example.
• Partner closely with product, design, CTO, data, and AI/ML teams to shape roadmap and feasibility.
• Apply AI/ML concepts to improve automation, personalization, data quality, and developer experience.
