About The Position

This position is within Center of Excellence (CoE) in CTO North America Organization and is responsible to provide Power Electronics Hardware expertise to wider organization. The candidate will interact with multiple teams in different Business units and expertise teams with high level of expertise and knowledge in power systems and electrical distribution design. He or she will lead and drive the innovation and technical work package within the organization covering Power Conversion Units (modules or equipment for AC and DC applications) and Power Protection Units (e.g. Solid State/Hybrid Circuit Breakers) from topology and devices to safety, and standards. What will you do? You will work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. You will drive and manage the studies and investigations within the streams and projects with a global mandate. He or she will be very active with external partners and will drive innovation with Labs and Consortiums. The mission Include all activities where Power Electronics Hardware expertise is needed. Main focus is expected to be on new design and innovative applications. The candidate will: deliver elements of given design using established processes and best practices architect offers/subsystems from Technical Specifications to meet Customer Values expectations develop a strong expertise in Power Electronics Hardware, in order to reinforce our technical leadership. Lead within our organization and behave as a thought leader with good understanding of the customer processes, impacting business and customer.

Requirements

  • PhD (Electrical Engineering with Power Electronics emphasis) and seniority level are valuable. Candidates with less educational qualifications could be considered based on their level of proven expertise in the industry.
  • Expertise in power electronics, different topologies and design is required.
  • An experience of at least 10 years in this fields is important: experience in power electronics Product Design Engineering work focused on designing and developing electronic component, products, or systems including:
  • Applying electrical/electronic engineering principles to develop electronic circuitry and components (e.g. semiconductor devices, magnetics, etc.)
  • Designing and developing electronic systems and equipment
  • May also be involved with designing/developing product/component specific manufacturing production processes and equipment
  • Experience in designing power conversion systems in LV (less than 1000V, 3phase) environment with power ratings from 50kVA to several MVA.
  • Experience using various simulation tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink) for power electronics circuit design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or understanding in design of Solid State Circuit Breakers and MV power electronics (e.g. Solid State Transformers) a plus.

  • Has an important impact on Schneider Electric business, offers and technologies. Is a renowned professional within the company and a Business Unit
  • Leads or contributes to system design, component selection, circuit design
  • Employs simulation tools to model and analyze circuits for various performance criteria. Supports testing/validation efforts as necessary.
  • Works closely with cross-functional team of product owners, control/firmware engineers and electro-mechanical engineers to ensure overall system approach
  • master the strategic technology domain (Power Electronics), actively develop and deploy related innovation and expertise to offers (research, platforming, standardization, trends, partnership, intellectual property, reference documents).
  • hold a deep knowledge of Customer processes and of our offers, to support technical interactions with end-customers and solving of offer issues.
  • Regularly provide paper, blog or conference-material to contribute to the promotion of Strategy.
  • Regularly contribute to an international and multi-organization technical community and beyond a cross-functions (marketing, sales...) network.
  • Contribute actively to development, sharing and capitalization of knowledge and know-how
