About The Position

Medtronic’s Interventional Cardiac Therapies (ICT) Renal Denervation (formally CRDN) business is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to be part of a high-performing team developing next-generation medical device capital equipment. In this role, you will apply electrical engineering expertise with a focus on RF design, and RF energy delivery, digital circuit card design, FPGA, SOM, and hardware/software interfaces to support the design, development, characterization, integration testing, verification, validation, and lifecycle support of a next-generation Renal Denervation RF ablation generator. The work you do will impact patients globally and help support Medtronic’s mission of alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life for millions. This role requires strong electrical engineering expertise, sound technical judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively across complex multidisciplinary product development. The Principal Electrical Engineer will apply knowledge of RF design, RF energy delivery, circuit card design, digital hardware design, FPGA, SOM, hardware/software interfaces electrical engineering, systems development, characterization, and integration testing from early phase development through market release. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the patients we serve, strong collaboration skills, and deep expertise in RF design and RF energy delivery, with experience related to digital circuit card design, FPGA, SOM, and hardware/software interface considerations for medical device capital equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Electromechanical Systems / Capital equipment, or equivalent experience including hardware and software integration
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with subsystem design, circuit card architecture, schematic development, PCB-level testing
  • Or advanced degree with 6 years of experience with subsystem design, circuit card architecture, schematic development, PCB-level testing
  • Or PhD with 3 years experience with subsystem design, circuit card architecture, schematic development, PCB-level testing

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Device industry experience
  • Experience with RF energy delivery.
  • Experience with FPGA, SOM, or hardware/software interfaces.
  • Experience with IEC 60601-1 or other highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with ISO 14971.
  • Experience with product concept development, customer interaction, systems engineering, verification of engineering requirements, and validation of customer needs/design requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise in RF design, RF energy delivery, digital circuit card design, FPGA, SOM, and hardware/software interfaces to support complex medical device electronics.
  • Support RF generator subsystem design, circuit card architecture, schematic development, PCB-level testing, characterization, integration, verification, validation, and lifecycle activities for a next-generation Renal Denervation RF ablation generator.
  • Translate system, product, and hardware requirements into clear electrical engineering deliverables, including requirements decomposition, test coverage, and verification strategy.
  • Partner with systems, software, FPGA, mechanical, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, CTM, and program teams to support cross-functional execution and design transfer readiness.
  • Provide expert technical input during design reviews, RF design discussions, board checkout, integration troubleshooting, independent reviews, test planning, and risk discussions.
