About The Position

This position manages and creates department specific practices/procedures that will improve and streamline processes while keeping safety at the forefront. This position supports both engineering and field personnel by ensuring policies and best practices are readily made available along with any additional technical support as required. This position requires the review of department safe work practices and procedures on a yearly basis to ensure compliance with Amtrak and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree requires or equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 7 years of relevant experience required
  • Experience writing, revising, and maintaining Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs), Engineering Practices (EPs), technical manuals, and safety procedures.
  • Experience utilizing document management platforms such as Comply365 or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of railroad, utility, electrical distribution, traction power, or transportation infrastructure systems.

Nice To Haves

  • 9+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Experience researching and evaluating equipment, tools, materials, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, compliance reviews, and operational assessments.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies and incident investigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to electrical systems and worker safety.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and reviewing department safe work practices and procedures.
  • Providing day-to-day clarifications of standards and safe work practices/procedures to department engineering and field personnel.
  • Providing technical assistance to department engineers as needed regarding policy and safe work practices.
  • Ensuring both engineering and field personnel have access to department communications and standards.
