About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join its Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions team in southern New Hampshire. The team develops threat detection and countermeasure solutions that enhance mission survivability. This role spans the full product lifecycle—including business capture, development, production, testing, and sustaining—for complex defense products and technologies. The engineer will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers, as well as product managers and other stakeholders. The position focuses on ensuring the performance, quality, and reliability of electronic products through design, analysis, and testing. It calls for experience with Agile hardware development, risk-reduction prototyping, and requirements-driven design and verification. The role also includes technical leadership and mentoring junior engineering talent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 6 years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting high-reliability embedded systems, or at least 4 years with an MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical principles and test methodologies, and ability to work with advanced test equipment and cutting-edge technology.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, equipment, and processes.
  • Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Competence in digital, analog, and mixed-signal electronics fundamentals and interface and communication standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with FPGA design; DDR and QSPI memory interfaces; PCIe, Ethernet, JESD 204, I2C, JTAG, and MIL-STD-1553 data transfer protocols; and DC-to-DC power supply design.
  • Experience with electrical engineering tools for design, schematic capture, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience designing mixed-signal CCAs.
  • Experience using Cadence tools for printed board assembly and printed circuit board design.
  • Familiarity with design, analysis, and manufacturing standards for complex multilayer rigid and rigid-flex CCAs.
  • Knowledge of aero and defense industry engineering development processes, including designing and testing to MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-461.
  • Agile hardware development experience and a self-starter approach.
  • Exceptional ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.
  • Control account management experience.
  • Experience with LRIP/FRP, especially electronics manufacturing and test methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AS9145-compliant processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and troubleshoot digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power circuit card assemblies (CCAs) for military electronics and avionics equipment.
  • Lead electrical engineering design, development, integration and testing, and production of complex military systems.
  • Participate in requirements development, perform technical trade studies, and evaluate technology insertions and upgrades.
  • Develop electronic hardware architectures that leverage embedded processors, microcontrollers, and VHDL-based FPGAs and SoCs.
  • Develop and execute test plans, integrate test solutions, and provide detailed reports on test results.
  • Mentor junior engineering talent and support knowledge transfer.
