About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer with experience in designing electrical power systems for the municipal water/wastewater industry to join their team in Phoenix, Arizona. This role involves utilizing technical capabilities to collaborate with professionals, providing technical and design consulting services with a focus on electrical power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding design for projects in the West Region of the Resilience Water Business. The position also includes managing tasks, overseeing the work of engineering professionals, and acting as an industry leader to support the growth of the municipal water/wastewater practice.

Requirements

  • 15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, preferably with an emphasis on power.
  • Professional Engineering License in Arizona or ability to obtain reciprocity in 6 months.
  • Solid working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Performance-driven mindset.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary design team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the electrical design and coordination of various projects with an emphasis on medium and low-voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding for water/wastewater projects.
  • Project/task management and support in managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment.
  • Development of project/task scopes, schedules, and budget for new projects.
  • Interactive coordination with Control Systems and Process Mechanical groups.
  • Establishing design criteria, performing design calculations, developing one-line diagrams, control schematics, plans and specifications.
  • Performing engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor RFIs (request for information).
  • Conducting field inspections, overseeing projects in construction which includes identifying deviations from design, performing general QA/QC of completed work, and monitoring safety compliance.
  • Performing system analysis using ETAP, SKM Power Tools or other power systems analysis software.
  • Provide engineering responsibility for staff using these software packages to publish a power systems study with arc flash hazard analysis.
