About The Position

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in efforts associated with a variety of disciplines including electronic control systems, mechanical subsystems, signal acquisition, and data processing. This opportunity will encompass multiple product families that include high power electronics, remote plasma sources, microwave delivery systems, ozone generators, and infrared spectroscopy. You will operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical environment and work with cross-functional teams to support innovative designs and differentiated technologies. You Will Make an Impact By: Work as the lead of a technical team responsible for the design, modeling, testing, and packaging of highly complex electro-mechanical components and systems Understands the characteristics and improvements of the developed product, develops test methods by using engineering backgrounds including development software/firmware functions, and realize them experimentally Create system level engineering design specifications and project scope documents Serve as the primary technical liaison for electronics vendors, including defining requirements for externally sourced electronic assemblies. Develop, document, and execute design verification plans. Report on results and present appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost Communicate effectively with both the development team and management stakeholders in both oral and written forms Ensure product design meets industry and regulatory compliance requirements and standards Analyze and implement continuous improvements in quality, reliability, and cost reduction

Requirements

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years, or B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of experience
  • Experience designing electronics for optoelectronic instruments, optical detection systems, and mixed‑signal architectures
  • Experienced with thermal detectors, MCT (Mercury Cadmium Telluride) sensors, thermoelectric coolers, near/mid IR filters, interferometers, optics, and mirrors used in NDIR and FTIR spectroscopy
  • Understanding of vacuum system infrastructure including MFCs, pressure controllers, and vacuum pumps
  • Skilled with the design and test of complex hardware/embedded software systems that begin with proper scope, requirements reviews, and developing the concepts necessary for operation
  • Experienced in the development and testing of system integration & DVT plans
  • Strong technical communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills
  • Experience with Failure Analysis (FMEA)
  • This position is onsite and must be within commutable distance to our location in Methuen, MA
