About The Position

This role is focused on leading and promoting a culture of electrical safety and compliance within Sydney Trains. The Principal Electrical Safety Investigator will be responsible for investigating incidents, providing expert advice, and mentoring technical specialists. The position is permanent and based at Clyde Hub, with travel required across the metropolitan network. The role offers an opportunity to significantly improve electrical safety within Sydney Trains and develop stakeholder engagement skills.

Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
Expert knowledge and application of the Rail Safety Act, the WHS Act, the Electricity Supply Act.
Natural, effective leader experienced in leading and managing a team of technical experts.
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others.
Ability to engage with stakeholders, partner and educate in electrical safety matters and ensure compliance within a regulatory framework.

Responsibilities

Lead, promote and facilitate a culture of electrical safety and compliance with the Electrical Network Safety Management System when working in the vicinity of the electrical distribution or rail traction networks.
Lead investigations and report on incidents involving the Sydney Trains Electrical Network and make recommendations to address and improve electrical safety.
Provide sound advice and guidance to managers, staff and Technically Assured Organisations to foster sound relationships and ensure the control of electrical safety risks.
Be accountable for leading and mentoring two technical specialists in rail traction and substation safety.
Undertake reporting obligations to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.
