We are currently recruiting for a Principal EDS Specialist. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a part-time position based in Calgary, Alberta. The Plant 3D Administrator manages the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk Advanced Steel, and AutoCAD (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) systems. Responsibilities include software and database administration, application integration, project and security configuration, pipe specification and support development, and technical troubleshooting. The role works within the Engineering and Design Systems team to provide both operational support and system enhancements, ensuring the effective delivery and integration of engineering design applications.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience administering AutoCAD Plant 3D, including project setup, catalog and specification management, model customization, pipe specification and support creation, reporting, database administration, and user support.
  • Experience supporting and integrating Autodesk applications, including AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Autodesk Advanced Steel, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks.
  • Knowledge of engineering design workflows within the petrochemical, oil and gas, energy, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, configuring, and supporting engineering design software solutions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver support in a project environment.
  • Understanding of multi-office collaboration environments, including worksharing, servers, databases, cloud platforms, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Experience developing and delivering user training, guidance, and technical documentation.
  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Autodesk Plant 3D administrator and/or user training programs preferred.
  • Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Autodesk Vault, or similar collaboration platforms is considered an asset.
  • Experience as a Plant 3D designer or 3D CAD designer is considered an asset.
  • Experience as a CAD, Plant 3D, or Engineering Systems Administrator is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of laser scanning, point cloud technologies, or LFM software is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD customization, scripting, AutoLISP, or related programming technologies is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of data-centric engineering, digital delivery, and integrated engineering information management principles is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Administering, configuring, and supporting Plant 3D, Advanced Steel, and AutoCAD MEP environments.
  • Setting up and maintaining project databases, security permissions, and project-level configurations.
  • Managing project reporting, data extraction, and lifecycle reporting requirements.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for end users and project teams.
  • Managing the integration of engineering applications and related design technologies.
  • Supporting the import, management, and utilization of laser scan data within 3D models.
  • Maintaining model backup, recovery, and system continuity processes.
  • Developing and implementing improvements to enhance system performance, efficiency, and user productivity.
  • Delivering user training, mentoring, and onboarding support for new and existing users.
  • Prioritizing and coordinating support activities to meet project and business requirements.
  • Testing, validating, and deploying software updates, configurations, and enhancements.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Documenting system changes, processes, issues, and lessons learned.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve user experience, increase adoption, and reduce operating costs.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Engineering Design Systems environment.
