About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Principal Developer Advocate to join the Annapurna Labs team, focusing on AWS Machine Learning accelerators like Trainium and the Neuron Software Development Kit (SDK). This role is at the forefront of AWS innovation in ML hardware acceleration, aiming to drive awareness, trust, and adoption of Trainium and the Neuron SDK across the global ML developer ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a background in software engineering, ML research, or systems performance, coupled with a passion for public speaking and community engagement. They should possess deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to operate independently across various technical communities, with immediate credibility among ML practitioners, researchers, and performance engineers. The role involves being the external face of AWS in ML hardware acceleration, championing open-source AI, hardware-software co-design, and the future of ML infrastructure. As a technical champion, the advocate will create and deliver content ranging from tutorials to deep-dive optimization guides. As a community builder, they will engage with ML practitioners to understand challenges, represent their voice internally, and translate insights into product roadmap impact. As an ecosystem strategist, they will build partnerships with open-source projects and communities to ensure Trainium's visibility and credibility. The Annapurna Labs team is responsible for silicon and software innovation for AWS customers, covering disciplines like silicon engineering, hardware design, software, and operations, and has contributed to AWS Nitro, ENA, EFA, Graviton, EC2 F1 FPGA instances, and now AI/ML accelerators like Neuron SDK, Inferentia, and Trainium.

Requirements

  • Experience conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences
  • Experience developing technology solutions and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing
  • Experience communicating complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
  • 10+ years of Experience in software engineering, ML research, systems performance, or a related technical field
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks, tools, or infrastructure
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple initiatives across different technical communities
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations, workshops, or demonstrations to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with at least one major programming language or technology platform

Nice To Haves

  • Experience speaking at industry conferences, user groups, or other public forums
  • Background in software development, cloud architecture, or enterprise technology solutions
  • Familiarity with content creation tools and platforms, including video production and social media
  • Experience working with open-source communities or contributing to open-source projects
  • Knowledge of emerging technology trends and their potential business applications

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining relevant content (demos, videos, blogs, podcasts, livestreams, etc), covering AWS Trainium and the Neuron SDK along with emerging technologies and industry developments.
  • Gaining industry recognition and credibility as a regular attendee and speaker at third party technology conferences, shows and press events.
  • Curating, developing and delivering compelling presentations to help drive awareness and adoption of AWS Trainium.
  • Maintaining a credible presence in social media
  • Ability to travel (including internationally when needed)
  • Ability to work autonomously
