About The Position

WeWork is seeking a Principal Designer, Motion to join their nimble creative team. This role will work directly with the Global Creative Director to bring brand vision and creative direction to life through motion design. The position is hands-on, with a primary focus on After Effects, and involves crafting concepts, storyboards, style frames, and executing 2D animation, motion graphics, titles, and design-led video for various platforms including social, paid media, web, sales, and events. The role also includes editing footage, potentially shooting original content, guiding external partners, and contributing to motion guidelines and toolkits. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, proactive, and capable of running projects from brief to final delivery, while also understanding and leveraging AI tools to enhance speed without compromising craft.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in motion design and video, including projects where you originated the ideas.
  • A reel showcasing strong work carried from idea to finish.
  • Deep proficiency in After Effects and Premiere.
  • Strong skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma.
  • Understanding of design fundamentals such as type, composition, color, and pacing.
  • Work that looks designed, not just animated.
  • Self-directed with the ability to take a brief and return with options.
  • Comfortable presenting and explaining work.
  • Ability to shoot own footage and edit it well.

  • Experience in real estate, hospitality, or professional services.
  • Experience versioning work for different markets and languages.
  • Experience with 3D or compositing.

Responsibilities

  • Work from the creative direction set by the Global Creative Director.
  • Run projects from brief to finished video.
  • Craft concepts, storyboards, and style frames from the Creative Director's vision.
  • Bring own ideas to projects and team brainstorms.
  • Present work to the team and marketing partners.
  • Craft every frame, from first sketch to final cut, including 2D animation, motion graphics, titles, and design-led video for social, paid, web, sales, and events.
  • Edit footage, including pacing, color, sound, music, and versions for every format.
  • Shoot own idea when a project calls for it.
  • Guide external partners so their animation meets company standards.
  • Work with Ops on timing and flag risk early.
  • Help build motion guidelines with the Creative Director, covering timing, transitions, type, and sound.
  • Craft After Effects and other motion toolkits so the team can version work efficiently.
  • Keep clear standards for files, aspect ratios, captions, accessibility, and licensing.
  • Spot opportunities, bring ideas, and act proactively.
  • Share new skills and learnings with the team, and help elevate animation and video work.
  • Run creative tests with Performance Marketing and use results to refine future work.
  • Understand and utilize AI tools to increase speed without sacrificing craft.
