About The Position

Raytheon is hiring a Principle Database Engineer to support our teams in Richardson TX. You will have the opportunity to directly impact the world around you and contribute to classified programs and technologies you are passionate about. In this position you would be familiar with creating, updating, and managing databases and the code that interacts with them.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of Database Engineering experience.
  • Experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) and Database Engineer (DBE)
  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions using Oracle and Postgres while using Linux command line to perform database administration activities
  • Experience virtualizing or containerizing databases.
  • Experience Ansible, Terraform, and AWS RDS.
  • Experience troubleshooting performance issues.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Systems and Software Engineers to implement, and modify backend databases to interact with applications within a development environment.
  • Existing Security+ Certification
  • Experience with NoSQL database products such as MongoDB
  • Experience troubleshooting database issues such as DR, replication & backups and other related issues.
  • Experience with database security controls and audit & compliance requirements.
  • Experience with automating routine tasks.
  • Experience with Spatial databases
  • Coding experience (SQL, Python, Java) is helpful!

Responsibilities

  • Identify and understand customer needs and apply sound, demonstrable understanding of database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering to translate those needs to viable design solutions.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
  • Successfully integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products as part of customer-driven solutions.
  • Use proven problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Obtain and maintain SCI program access and complete polygraphs.
  • Obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start.
