About The Position

Performs application database administration services, including reviewing SQL code, analyzing and tuning query performance, designing database applications, developing physical data models, and supporting application development and engineering efforts. Coordinates replication projects that move data between Mainframe DB2 databases and distributed platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. Maintains critical DB2 databases through reorganizations, image copying, and sizing. Participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation for production support, database maintenance, housekeeping, and installation. The role collaborates with enterprise systems administration, cybersecurity, and capacity-planning teams; troubleshoots production issues; and develops standards and best practices for database operations, upgrades, migrations, and application onboarding. It installs and configures database management systems and related tools, plans security controls and access privileges, monitors performance, and conducts capacity planning. The position designs database models and data architectures; develops, tests, and optimizes SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers; and performs backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning. The Principal, Data Engineer migrates and integrates data across platforms, documents standards and procedures, evaluates patches and upgrades, and helps ensure data integrity, availability, and compliance. The role also defines enterprise data architecture strategies, develops advanced data engineering frameworks, advises senior leadership on data infrastructure and technology solutions, mentors junior engineers, performs complex technical and functional analysis for divisional initiatives, and develops solutions for scalable, secure, high-performance data environments. Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Onsite expectations vary by role and location and may evolve. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent), and five years of experience as a Principal, Data Engineer or in a closely related occupation modernizing DB2 environments supporting mission-critical trading platforms in the financial services industry using cloud and hybrid replication architectures; alternatively, a master’s degree in one of these fields (or foreign education equivalent) and three years of that experience.
Demonstrated expertise administering DB2 databases across z/OS and Linux environments and applying DB2 operational standards using DB2 COBOL/NSP, Broadcom CA Insight, IBM RC/Tools, Subsystem Analyzer, and native DB2 utilities in large DB2 z/OS sysplex environments.
Demonstrated expertise engineering and implementing enterprise replication solutions for stringent high-availability and disaster recovery requirements using IBM InfoSphere Data Replication Q Replication on z/OS in Active–Active and Active–Passive architectures, and IIDR CDC for heterogeneous cloud and on-premises targets, including AWS.
Demonstrated expertise tuning performance and conducting root-cause analysis for high-volume, low-latency transactional trading applications by optimizing SQL and DB2 subsystem behavior using IBM Omegamon, Broadcom CA Detector/Insight, SMF data analysis, Explain access path evaluation, and IBM QMF.
Demonstrated expertise designing and implementing automation for repeatable DB2 operational tasks aligned with standard operating procedures, including observability for proactive monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting, using Linux shell scripting, REXX, SQL, and Python.

Mentor junior engineers.
Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple divisional initiatives.
